Got 'em. It lays pretty flat if you lay it on the side that the button is NOT on. Easy and instant way to square your job or check for existing state of squareness (my daughter may think I pass this last test all too well)4. I was not impressed with the flimsy design of this square. I does seem to be accurate, but I am unsure how long it will stay that way with repeated use.
Three rivets or staples on each end would have prevented this problem at minimal cost. This was only a slight annoyance as a few moments with a file removed the burrs.
I was pleased to have this well made item arrive as it is frequently used in my Ceramic Tile business. This Hanson aSquare is a replacement for a previous tool that "walked off" a job-site.
The pointed ends of this aluminum tool had of course torn through the tape and the tips were damaged from handling. However, when I picked it up from my porch it literally fell out of the factory cardboard packaging tube.
Both ends of the tube had been taped closed with clear packaging tape, and both factory plastic "plugs" were missing. A good tool deserves proper packaging.
